Two-step close
A close is requested in one block and priced in a later one, at least 1 block after the request. Whoever settles it, the trader never gets a worse deal for waiting, and the settler never gets a free option.
The steps
requestCloseblock N: records the mid
settleCloseblock ≥ N + 1, at that block’s mid
After N + 30anyone settles, at the worse mid for the trader
Why
Pricing the exit in a later block than the request means a trader cannot see a distorted book and close into it in the same transaction. The target behaves the same way (its exit is the mid of the block that executes the close).
Who settles
- Until 30 blocks after the request, only the relayer or keeper; they settle at once.
- After that, anyone; the trader then receives the worse of the request mid and the current mid, so delay never pays the settler.
- The owner can always request a close directly. A pending close can still be liquidated.
- A frozen or retired market settles at its frozen mid.
