Questions

Where does the price come from?

From Hyperliquid's order book. The contract reads the best bid and ask through a HyperEVM precompile in the block your trade lands, and uses their midpoint for entry and exit.

Who is on the other side of my trade?

One USDC pool. Losing trades pay into it and winning trades are paid from it. If the pool is short, the rest of a payout waits in a first-in, first-out queue paid by later losses.

Why is a winning trade paid less than the raw move?

Wins pass a small deadband and a haircut that shrinks as the move grows, then a 2% fee on what remains. Small, fast wins are haircut most. The payout lens above shows the exact figure.

When am I liquidated?

When the mid reaches your bust price, a little before your margin is fully used. At 1000× that is a move of about 0.05% against you.

Do I need gas?

No. You sign an order and the relayer submits it. A trading key in your browser can sign trades for up to 30 days; it can never withdraw or move funds.

Can anyone freeze my funds?

No. Withdrawing is a direct call to the vault contract that no admin function touches, and it works without the relayer.
